Revisiting this beautiful shot. I just read your reply to my initial comment and that is such a beautiful story. Very powerful and moving. There is something so beautiful about the releasing of ashes to one's loved spot. I remember with my dad's simply walking through the woods, by myself (my mom stayed behind since I think it was a little hard for her - they had a rough marriage but it was still emotional for her) and I ascended this little rocky outcropping, and noticed the most glorious view of Laramie Peak, which was his favorite mountain. It was in the forest, surrounded by sweet smelling pine trees rustling in the wind on all sides, except this one clearing with the view of the towering mountain. I just felt and knew that was the right spot. That was in Wyoming - I now live in Arizona but one of the few things I miss in Wyoming are those beautiful (and fairly unkown) mountains, referred to as the Laramie Mountains.

What a gorgeous capture and tribute to your dad. You are a fantastic photgrapher. This resonated deeply as I spread my own dad's ashes in one of his favorite places some number of years ago.

Thank you very much for your kind words, they mean more than you will know. This is a very special place for me. This was taken a couple years ago. The first day of this year I resolved to try and turn this passion into something. I was working overseas and went out to a pier on the Black Sea. I caught the first sunrise of 2019 there in the cold alone on the pier, but as the light started to show I was accompanied by a couple above me on the pier, as I was lower closer to the water with my camera setup to capture the moment of the sunrise. I looked up and saw them and made a comment on how beautiful the morning was. They smiled and acknowledged in another language. a bit later I moved up to where they were over to the corner and they moved down by the water. I did not realize until that moment what they were there for as the woman knelt down and spread ashes into the sea. They let the canister go into the water as well. Those who have done a similar thing understand the beauty of what I described. I was very humbled to be a part of this and witness this. My only relish I could have gotten their contact information so I could have given them the images I took that beautiful New Years morning.
